WHO ARE WE?

Mission Statement

To work alongside the villagers and families of Rambutso and help them improve their quality of life in a sustainable and environmentally sound manner.

Objectives

In the short term FOR’s focus is on providing improved access to health, education and community infrastructure.

Beyond the short term, FOR will focus on improving the self-reliance of the people of Rambutso.  This will involve the identification, exploration and development of sustainable income sources based around sound conservation practices.

This will include exploring the opportunity for visiting anthropologists, marine conservationists, artists, biologists to undertake projects in the province which promote and local and international knowledge of the natural flora, fauna, art, culture, and languages and assist in their conservation.

In reaching our objectives, FOR will adopt a process of engagement with community members and will acknowledge the traditional community approach to decision making.  They will guide all we do.

Initiatives that negatively impact the community’s values will be excluded.
